#AskBRP Episode 33
It seems like most high end luxury brands have names that are hard to pronounce if you are American. Cartier, Louis Vuitton, Hermes, all words that don’t sound like how they’re spelled. If you’re in the market for one of these brands you want to make sure you know how to pronounce the company you’re buying. This is a guide on pronouncing certain luxury designer brands. Pawn Shop Boca Raton.
Cartier
Cartier was founded in France by Louis-Francois Cartier. If you look at the word, it looks like it’s pronounced (Car Tee Air). But since it’s a French name it is actually pronounced (Car Tee Aye). Cartier is considered one of the top high end designer jewelry brands in the world. They are a worldwide company and have stores in over 125 different countries.
Patek Philippe
Patek Philippe is considered by watch enthusiasts the absolutely number one watch company in the world. Every other watch brand is aspiring to making watches as nice as Patek Philippe. They make watches that are meant to last forever and be passed down from generation to generation. At first glance it looks like it’s pronounced (Pa Tek Phillip) but it’s really pronounced (Paa Tek Phil Eep) with an emphasis on the eep.
Breitling
Breitling is one of those words that just looks weird. The company has been making watches since the 1800’s but because very popular recently with the trend in watches becoming larger. They are inspired by pilots watches which tend to be large and easy to read unlike the name the brand. Some people like to call them (Bret Ling) but the correct pronunciation is actually (Bright Ling).
Hublot
This is another watch brand that has exploded in popularity over the last few years. You can see their watches on the arms of celebrities and athletes all over the world. It looks like you would say (Hue Blot) but the right way to say it is (Hue Blow). The T is silent unlike their watches which are very loud.
Louis Vuitton
If you’ve never heard of Louis Vuitton before you have been living under a rock. They might be the most recognizable luxury handbag brand in the world. The classic LV monogram pattern on the bags is something that you will always remember. Unfortunately a lot of people pronounce it (Lou is) instead of (Lou Eee).
Audemars Piguet
This is one of the harder names to figure out how to say. The first word is actually the easiest. It sounds exactly how it’s spelled except there is a silent S at the end. The second word most people would pronounce (Pee Gwet) but it is actually said (Pee Gae). You could just say AP for short if you know what’s up.
Submariner
This isn’t the name of a brand but rather the name of a specific Rolex model. But it gets on the list because it is the most popular Rolex in my opinion. Since it’s a diving watch a lot of people think it’s pronounced (Sub Mar Eee Ner) but it’s supposed to be pronounced (Sub Mar In Er).
