Model Cara Delevingne and singer Pharrell Williams have reunited as the stars of Chanel’s latest ad campaign featuring the iconic label’s pre-fall 2015 Paris-Salzburg collection.
The 22-year-old model and actress, who was named as the new face of Chanel in 2014, teamed up with the 42-year-old musician to model the brand’s modern military designs for the ads, which were photographed by the luxury label’s creative director Karl Lagerfeld.
The new Sound of Music-esque images show Cara sporting knit thigh-high stockings, deep purple lips and ornate jackets, while Pharrell poses in cozy cable sweaters, structured wool coats and a pair of green knee-high boots.
Cara took to Instagram last night to share an image from the campaign, writing: ‘Introducing my new @chanelofficial campaign with the wonderful @pharrel. In the picture, Cara’s gothic-looking lipstick is on display as she stares straight into the camera, while modeling an elaborately-detailed navy coat, matching shorts, a white embroidered bandeau top and over-the-knee brown suede boots. Her side-parted blonde hair is tousled over her shoulder. The image from the campaign has received more than 525,000 likes since the popular Instagram star shared it with her 11.7 million followers.
Love these collaborations with the greats!’ one fan commented, while another added: ‘This looks AMAZING” And today she posted a behind-the-scenes snapshot of her with Pharrell, Karl, and her other young co-star, six-year-old model Hudson Kroenig, who is no stranger to the brand. In fact, ‘Uncle’ Karl is his godfather. Hudson dons traditional lederhosen and a Fair Isle sweater as he poses next to Cara and Pharrell in a green room featuring matching retro green furniture and vintage Austrian casino posters.
Cara and Pharrell previously joined forces for the short film entitled Reincarnation, which was directed by Karl and features the two stars singing a duet of CC The World, a song the musician penned specifically for the project.
The film tells the tale of the house’s founder Gabrielle Chanel, and her inspiration for the jacket synonymous with the brand. It was created in celebration of Paris-Salzburg 2014/15 Métiers d’art collection held on December 2nd in Salzburg, Austria.
Cara and Pharrell performed the original song on stage together earlier this month at the collection’s recent show at the Park Avenue Armory in New York City.
